The Powderhorn Chateau is not just a place to stay. With 2 restaurants and bars, a ski/snowboard Shop with hire ski equipment and mountain bike hire. Our indoor heated swimming Pool is maintained at 35° Celcius so that you can unwind and relax after a hard day on the mountain.

With full conference facilities, our conference groups enjoy the convenience of the Powderhorn Chateau location approximately midway between Auckland and Wellington, and the Ohakune Stop on the main trunk rail line. Our conference co-ordinator ensures your conference runs smoothly and efficiently

The Powderhorn Chateau contains thirty spacious and superbly timber finished rooms in 3 styles. They all contain a Queen sized bed, lounge suite, refrigerator, full bathroom facilities, phone, modem access, room service and colour television complete with Sky television selection.

Hotel Room Styles:

  • Queen sized bed, 2 seater couch and balcony,

  • Queen sized bed, 2 seater couch/single bed, and

  • Queen sized bed, Double Couch/double bed with large walk-in wardrobe suitable for a rollaway bed.

We have a boutique apartment available complete with four bedrooms, self contained kitchen, two spa bathrooms, lounge complete with 26" colour flat screen television, private balcony with views of the Mangawhero River and the Tongariro National Park.  

The Powderhorn Ski and board Shop have a full range of gear for sale or hire. Highly trained staff in the onsite workshop maintains our equipment. We also have a full range of clothing and accessories.
